To protect consumers by ensuring only qualified licensees practice public accountancy in accordance with established professional standards. All consumers are well-informed and receive quality accounting services from licensees they can trust.
Public Participation: The California Board of Accountancy will hold a public meeting in person and via Webex pursuant to the provisions of Government Code section 11123.2. Much of the November 21st meeting is a closed session.

*Government Code section 11125.7 provides the opportunity for the public to address each agenda item during discussion or consideration by the California Board of Accountancy prior to the California Board of Accountancy taking any action on said item. Members of the public will be provided appropriate opportunities to comment on any issue before the California Board of Accountancy, but the California Board of Accountancy President may, at their discretion, apportion available time among those who wish to speak. Individuals may appear before the California Board of Accountancy to discuss items not on the agenda; however, the California Board of Accountancy can neither discuss nor take official action on these items at the time of the same meeting (Government Code sections 11125, 11125.7(a)).

The CBA offers licensure application and renewal assistance programs for past and present military personnel and their spouses/domestic partners. Military members and their spouses/domestic partners who hold an out-of-state CPA license and are temporarily residing/moving to California may qualify to practice public accountancy under practice privilege without a California CPA license.
