If you’ve ever enjoyed a warm summer evening listening to live music under the stars in the San Fernando Valley, you owe a tip of the hat to the late Lou Bredlow. Back in 1975, the prominent Southern California educator and arts champion—who served as the first chairwoman of the Valley Cultural Foundation—had a simple but brilliant vision: bring free, high-quality arts and culture directly to the community. Decades later, that vision is still the heartbeat of Woodland Hills’ Warner Center Park. Today, the music rings out from the Lou Bredlow Pavilion, which now features the newly dedicated Nora Ross Bandshell, named in loving memory of the foundation’s passionate former CEO, Nora Ross. It’s a beautiful, open-air legacy that continues to bring neighbors together year after year.
The park's sprawling lawn makes it the perfect spot to unpack a picnic, spread out a few blankets, or set up lawn chairs with family and friends, all while sampling bites from local food truck vendors. The free summer concert series is already in full swing and will run through August 23, 2026, but the undisputed crown jewel of the season is just around the corner. The annual Councilmember Bob Blumenfields' July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza promises to be a massive local celebration, featuring a spectacular fireworks display to close out the night. Before the sky lights up, the stage will heat up with an opening performance by emerging artist Marshmallow Torch, followed by the smooth, classic sounds of the Steely Dan tribute band, Doctor Wu. It’s the ultimate way to celebrate the holiday, celebrate the Valley, and keep a wonderful local tradition rocking.
