MARIACHI USA originated in 1990  by Rodri J. Rodriguez, of Rodri Entertainment.

It has been held at the Hollywood Bowl since its inception. 

BRING Your favorite picnic foods (in plastic containers only). You may only bring non-alcoholic beverages in sealed plastic containers into the Hollywood Bowl. All containers, picnic baskets, and coolers must fit under the seat or within the Box. Large containers, picnic baskets, or coolers measuring more than 15″ wide, 15″ high, or 22″ long ARE NOT permitted past the ticket gate.

In addition to the Festival, Ms. Rodriguez founded the MARIACHI USA Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides mariachi music education to school-age kids throughout Los Angeles.
