Pratt Skips SFV Chamber Candidate Forum in Favor of a Block Party in South L.A.

Pratt's visit to Sherman Oaks Sunday attracted media attention but his absence Wednesday at the SFV Chamber Mayoral candidate forum was ignored. He was in Bass's So. L.A. districtSpencer Pratt trades the debate stage for BBQ in South LA  

The South Los Angeles block party was an obvious means to harness the community which was the root of Karen Bass' political and social activism 36 years prior, with "Community Coalition" in 1990 and as a legislator.

Mayor Karen Bass was a State Representative for South L.A.(2004-2010), before she was a Congresswoman for the 33rd district (2011-2013), and before she was Mayor of Los Angeles. Prior to a 20+ year career in politics she founded "Community Coalition" in 1990 "History – Community Coalition
 In 1990, a group of passionate and driven activists came together, summoned by Karen Bass, who was working as a physician’s assistant at the time. The group was deeply shaken by the devastating health crisis that had taken hold of our community.
The crack-cocaine epidemic was causing widespread destruction, evidenced by loved ones disappearing into the penal system,
helicopters hovering overhead day and night, and residents going to great lengths to secure their homes, including installing bars on their windows to prevent break-ins.


Ironically, when she was in the State Assembly, her focus was on Foster Care Reform, resulting in $82 million in the 2006-2007 state budget.  However, the Los Angeles Foster Care system is a County agency which partners with the City of Los Angeles. It has come under fire, with numerous expensive lawsuits, and visible

The objective of the organization today has no mention of the crack-cocaine epidemic, foster care, or any medical services.
