The arraignment and plea of Angela Flores has been postponed to July 12th. The mother of seven children admits to murdering Natalie Flores, 12, Kevin Yanez, 10, and Nathan Yanez, 8. Her 16-year oldest son was also arrested based on Angela assigning him assistance in her actions. She did not have custody of three other children.
Publicity for the Flores case is void, perhaps because it lacks local interests fueling a public trial by opinion. However, it does not serve the public interest, the protection of children, to hide the court process demonstrating cause and effect leading to the tragedy.
While it was reported:
- A gun was used to kill the children; no advocates to limit gun violence are taking up this case.
- An older child was also arrested; no advocates to prevent child abuse & negligence are taking up this case
- She admitted to killing her children, which led to her arrest, no one including other media outlets has stood up to suggest ways or signs to prevent a similar situation occurring again in the community.
How does the absence of a public report or access to the trial serve the public interest?
- Alerting the public of the warning signs
- Reminding the public of possible help needed for a single mother in a new neighborhood.
- Cautioning families of the impact of adult stress on children
Details of the case have not been presented by the court, defense attorneys, or family members to the public. The community may be allowed to be present July 12th at 10am in Room 100 of the Van Nuys Court House Bldg. West.
Prior hearing dates for Angela Flores, which were extended include:
- October 4th and 5th, 2022
- January 31, 2023
- April 30, 2023
