Death Valley National Park Including Major & Backcountry Roads Closed
Normally pets are only allowed on roadways of the Death Valley National Park. But because of the damage to the roads, after Hurricane Hillary, NO ONE is allowed into DVNP.

Not only are major roads closed, but also ALL backcountry roads are closed.
FULL PARK CLOSURE
ROADS & PARK ARE CLOSED, including CA State Route 190. Many roads are covered with debris and have undercutting and shoulder loss due to recent flooding. Do not enter the park. Emergency services may not be available.
Fire Restrictions
Date Posted: 9/4/2023Fire restrictions are in effect at Thorndike, Wildrose and Mahogany Flats campgrounds from 6/15-9/15. No open flames are allowed, but controlled flame devices with shut off valves and gas, jellied petroleum, or pressurized liquid fuel sources are allowed.
EXTREME SUMMER HEAT
Date Posted: 9/4/2023Expect high temperatures of 100°F to 120°F+ (43°C to 49°C+). Drink plenty of water and carry extra. Do not hike after 10 am. Travel prepared to survive. In the case of a heat related illness, get to a cool place and seek help immediately.
