1 in 8 Americans is food insecure meanwhile an estimated 40% of food in the US is thrown into landfills, which releases more methane emissions than any other landfilled materials driving the climate change. In response, California’s SB 1383 bill requires entities including universities to not only sort organic waste but to also recover edible food for human consumption.

CSUN Sustainability invites you to its first ever Food Recovery Forum to learn more about the issue, our ongoing compliance efforts on campus and hear speakers from organizations in the field of edible food recovery and zero waste throughout Los Angeles such as Athens Services, LA Compost, FoodCycle LA, Food Recovery Network, California Climate Action Corps, Recycle2Riches and Hollywood Food Coalition etc. Collaboration is the theme of this year’s forum focusing on how we can learn from others in the food recovery space and grow our collective impact together.

Join the forum to learn more about ways to get involved, included a paid service opportunity through California Climate Action Corps program.

Presenter: Athens Services, LA Compost, FoodCycle LA, Food Recovery Network, California Climate Action Corps, Recycle2Riches and Hollywood Food Coalition etc.
