Supplies for Fall, Halloween & Dia de los Muertos Decor

Image

Fall decor is sometimes preferred over Halloween for some people, while others enjoy the less ghoulish aspects of Dia de los Muertos.  Whatever your preference the San Fernando Valley has dozens of resources.  After a two year hiatus the Canoga Park festival celebrating Dia de los Muertos has returned on November 6th.  The organizers are taking applications for vendors.

Year-round costume stores with themes for any event include:

Phantom in Northridge - Costume Superstore- Open All Year

Etoile in Tarzana with 1000's of costumes, both retail & rental. Also balloons, and gift wrap.

It's a Wrap in Burbank is a source for excess and "used" studio wardrobe.

Eastern Costume - suppliers to the industry!

Currently the Aldi's in West Hills has taken over the previous Halloween store location. Spirit Halloween is upstairs adjacent to the elevator in the Village.

While national chains have decor and costumes...

their inventory is quickly reduced: Target, Kohls, Walmart, Costco, and Sams Club.

As grocery stores begin to partner with retail stores, such as Ralphs now subletting to Bed, Bath, & Beyond, their selection of small decorations, costumes, dishware, and outdoor decor is more expansive, beyond food and candy.

The most obvious source for decorations and costumes are craft and fabric stores:

Michaels, Joann's, Hobby Lobby, and even Aldik on Sepulveda in Van Nuys.  Also, the selection of fabric and trim at quilt stores is inspirational. See our previous article with a complete list of these stores in the San Fernando Valley.  Sewing & Quilting Deals this month |

Don't dismiss the linens, tableware, and large and small outdoor decor at chain outlet stores such as Tuesday Morning, Home Goods, and Ross.   Party City offers streamers, balloons, and more.  Hardware stores such as the Ace Family of stores, Lowes, and Home Depot have not only plants and thematic flags and statues, but their employees are often a great help with the logistics of best choices for glues, paints, hardware, and structure components.   See our previous list of these locally owned stores. Grow It Yourself or Buy Grown Locally - Pt 1 |
