A bronze statue of Amelia Earhart, solely funded by the Atchison Amelia Earhart Foundation, was unveiled July 27, 2022, in National Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. As a pioneering American aviator and advocate for women’s equal rights, Amelia is now one of only 11 women represented in the National Statuary Hall Collection. A “twin” bronze of the Earhart statue in the U.S. Capitol Building stands in Atchison, welcoming visitors to the Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum.
