Abortion Advocates Throw Rocks at Police: City-Wide Tactical Alert Called

A day of protests elevates, in the evening, to throwing rocks & bottles at LAPD despite communications to clear and disperse.

• A group of protestors began to take the intersection
• 250 protesters surrounded public transportation
• Protesters began throwing rocks & bottles at LAPD
• LAPD communicated a dispersal order 
• One officer has been injured
• Citywide tactical alert declared

No abortion clinic was closed or damaged as a result of the conflict.

It should be noted California

• Uses its own funds to cover all "medically necessary" abortions sought by low-income women under Medicaid.
• Governor Reagan signed the Therapeutic Abortion Rights Bill in 1967, six years before Roe-v-Wade was decided
• Does not keep any records to the number of abortions performed in the state.
• Had the largest mass burial of fetuses retrieved from Malvin Weisberg's Woodland Hills home in 1985. 193 of the 16,431 fetuses were over 20 weeks' gestation

The SCOTUS, as a result of Roe v Wade, initiated a trimester demarcation for abortions rather than the week count and designation used by physicians.   

1971-2000 there have been over 939 legislative references concerning abortion by Congress.
