Note: The County has a 38.5 Billion dollar budget.  The five member Board of Supervisor are elected for a four year term.  Their responsibilities are outlined in this .pdf (brought to the attention of voters by candidate Roxanne Hogue). The CEO is appointed by the Board and has a separate website with oversight of various committees.

The board also has the power to appoint the directors of the LA County Public Health Department.

On May 5, Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl cast one of two dissenting votes on a series of recommendations to streamline and improve the response to homelessness. Most of the board members consider the move to be a step in the right direction, but Kuehl questioned whether the proposals would have any real impact and compared them to “rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic.”    Additional details: Homeless Policies Deputy Meeting - 5/26 - CEO Office LA County | San Fernando Valley News Portal (town.news)
