We spent extra time to seek out details on the race.

We set up a spreadsheet, looking at all the unique features of the jockey's and horses; this lead us to determine

• Nine of the twenty jockeys are from the United States
• The other eleven are from Venezuela....Peru....Panama (2)....Mexico....France (5)....Dominican Republic. 

And then we saw a unique story. It took some work to find age & place of birth because NO ONE was talking about Sonny Leon on Friday or even Saturday morning!!

LAST MINUTE CHANGES

• Sonny Leon (32 yrs old from La Victoria, Aragua, Venezuela) will be riding Rich Strike and will start from post position 20, for trainer Eric Reed.
• He will be replacing Ethereal Road who's trainer D. Wayne Lukas chose to scratch the horse Friday.
• Ethereal Road entered the race at the last minute after a defection took Un Ojo out of the race.

Now before you think we are perfect...

We actually went online to the Kentucky Derby website and thought about putting a little money on the race...on "Rich Strike", we couldn't sign up and a notice popped us to call in order to clarify our information. It was now 4am and the next morning we talked ourselves out of it. Sigh, that $100 woulda, coulda, shoulda, netted us $8000.
